Job description

Which projects deliver the best returns? What do rising personnel costs mean for our results? And where can we make financial adjustments?

As Finance Manager at MechDes, you make the figures behind these questions clear. You provide a reliable financial foundation and help our project managers and management team make well-informed decisions.
As a finance business partner, you take an active interest in how the business is run. You turn financial insights into concrete proposals and discuss with project managers and the management team which choices contribute to healthy returns.
Do you already have a few years of experience in finance and are you ready for more responsibility? You will have a broad role, the scope to implement improvements, and experienced finance professionals in our parent organization to exchange ideas with.

You will have room to grow into your role as a finance business partner, with the prospect of joining the management team in due course.

What will you do?

You want to understand what is behind the figures. You connect the dots, ask questions, and clearly explain what your analysis means for a project or the organization. You actively seek collaboration and are confident discussing financial assumptions critically.

You manage the financial closing and reporting for three legal entities with combined annual revenue of approximately €15 million. Colleagues at our sister companies handle day-to-day bookkeeping. You check the figures, investigate variances, and turn your findings into clear explanations and practical advice for the management team.
You work closely with our project managers. MechDes delivers projects on both a fixed-price and time-and-materials basis. Together, you monitor budgets, hours worked, and the hours still needed to complete projects. You make margin trends clear, investigate variances, and advise on ways to make adjustments.

In addition, you:

  • Manage the monthly and annual closing processes and coordinate them with the finance colleagues at our parent organization;
  • Perform the final review of payroll;
  • Prepare VAT returns;
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash flow plans;
  • Advise the management team on project margins, rates, personnel costs, and investments, among other topics;
  • Ensure reliable insight into work in progress and project hours not yet invoiced;
  • Prepare for audits and guide the process;
  • Improve financial processes and reporting, including through the use of AI. You critically check that the results are accurate and useful.

You take independent responsibility for your area of expertise. For specialist questions, you can consult several finance professionals within our parent organization.

We use AFAS. Experience with it is welcome, but you can also learn the system here. You do not need to have an immediate answer to every question. We do expect you to take responsibility, recognize when you need additional expertise, and seek it out independently.

Continue the conversation at our office over a freshly brewed cup of coffee?

We would be happy to explore whether there is a match and whether you can take the next step in your career at our engineering firm, where you truly matter as a person.
