Senior Mechanical Engineer

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at MechDes Engineering Harderwijk you work on challenging automotive and special machine construction projects, after completing the familiarization process within the business Unit MechDes Tooling & Machines. You can think of designing complex tooling with which components of cars are welded or a machine of 40 meters long that welds construction fences fully automatically with a cycle time of 18 seconds. What distinguishes MechDes from other engineering firms is that we have production in-house. We are located at our parent company AWL Techniek in Harderwijk. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at MechDes Engineering you ensure knowledge transfer and management within projects.

Projects can last from a few weeks to several months, depending on the size of a project. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer within MechDes Tooling & Machines you learn a lot from your fellow engineers and the juniors also learn a lot from you. We find cross-fertilization and knowledge sharing valuable at MechDes Engineering and make use of this where possible. From the position of Senior Mechanical Engineer you can grow within MechDes to a position as Lead Mechanical Engineer.

As a Mechanical Engineer Tooling at MechDes Engineering Harderwijk you are able to design independently in 3D CAD tools. Preferably you have experience with SolidWorks, but experience in another package such as Solid Edge or Inventor is certainly also welcome. Within MechDes we use a PDM (SmartTeam). Experience with this is welcome, but not necessary.

In addition to being able to independently carry out design work, you can also delegate drawing work to the Draftsmans, Junior Mechanical Engineers and Mechanical Engineers within your project team. In addition, you can take charge and responsibility for engineering projects of several hundred hours. In addition to designing in Solidworks, Solid Edge or Autodesk Inventor, you are able to make the associated calculations and choose the right materials.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you have an eye for detail and you keep an eye on the project planning. Because of your experience that you bring with you as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you perform managerial and/or coordinating activities. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you are able to assess and implement change requests.

At MechDes Engineering Harderwijk we have formulated an effective project approach from kick-off to release for production. The intermediate steps are; concept freeze, design freeze and final design. Steps are described in each phase that must be completed in order to proceed to the next phase. This creates clarity for the Mechanical Engineers, but also for the customer.
